I had been thinking about getting this certain tattoo for over a year now, and just 5 days ago I finally got it done and I couldn't be more satisfied with it.

I know, some people hated high school, but I really do think it might have been the best years of my life. (cliche, fuck it) I had small group of a few close friends in my neighborhood, and we rode our bikes together all the time. We would ride miles around town, or get a mom to drive us to Van's skatepark, or Spicy's or downtown. It didn't really matter to us as long as we were shredding. And it wasn't really all about the riding either. A lot of the time we would be riding and get started into some crazy deep conversation about, politics, or physics, or the meaning of life (or what we thought we knew about them). It was really about just hanging out and having a good time and being kids.
So eventually one of the guys and his brother decided to "start a clothing company" (when you're young you have funny ideas like that). So he designed and printed t-shirts and we all payed to cover the costs. Every friday we would all wear em to school for "force fridays" just to act like idiots and laugh at each other. We even made a little website www.geocities.com/forcebmx and later a video for fun and to show what we could do.
Well now its 6 years later and high school is over and we're kind of spread out. One of the guys is out of the country, 2 I barely see anymore, and one moved away to go to school. I still go to school with a couple of the guys and we still hang out and ride from time to time, but nothing to rival those times. Then the other night, 3 of us got together and decided to watch the old Force team video. It was hilarious watching ourselves, making fun of each other, remembering what things used to be like, and reminiscing. We even decided to go for a drunken bike ride afterward for old times sake, and it was a blast.
The next day I knew it was time. I knew that I finally wanted the tattoo. I was gonna go get the logo that was on the t-shirt we all had. I went to the shop downtown, and the guys were awesome and got me in and done in the same day! I took them the t-shirt, and they copied it and shrunk it down. Then the artist sketched it out and set up. Before I knew it I was bandaged and done. The oddest thing about this one was, it didn't really hurt all that much. I got it on the inside of my right bicep, and when I got the band around my other arm done, the inside of the arm felt like hell. ??? maybe I'm getting used to it.
--Now this is only my third tattoo, but it didn't even feel like a big deal to me. I didn't sweat how much it was gonna cost. Or think of reasons of why I should wait or hold off. I had thought about it for a while like all of my mods, but when I finally decided to leave for the shop, and when I walked in the door, I didn't have any of the anxiety I usually have. The other ones seemed like much more of a commitment, but this was a no brainer. Hopefully now I can finally start to get all of my other ideas out of my head and on my skin.
This is something I will never get tired of because its there to remind me of all the good times we all shared as kids. The best part of the whole experience was unveiling it to the guys. One of them fell on the floor laughing, the other smiled and got hyped, and the one who designed it originally only said "wow you have my art on your body forever." The artist had let me keep the sketch since it was such a personal design, I thought that was cool. I asked my friends if they might want to get it too, but no one really jumped up. (Meh I guess thats cool, they're not really into mods)
Its been 5 days now and its healing very nicely. One thing I would like to point out is I am not using Aquaphor on this tattoo. I was told to use it on my first tat, and the healing process and overall discomfort seemed to last much longer. I had no idea that aquaphor was such a splitting issue. I guess some people love it, but others are strongly against it - kind of like bactine in piercings. Between this tattoo and the last one, both without aquaphor, I'm convinced that its not for me. I'm sticking to regular lotion for now on.
